What am I if not curious and so began my journey into clay.
Having not experienced the medium until after my late twenties, I now cannot quell the allure of “feel it and do it”. The challenge is to make my work more refined in every aspect for its function, to slow down and to hold back the excitement of finishing a piece. I take pleasure from the bowl but at the same time question the form, examine the color and explore the firing method. Being able to play a little and be constructive. Maybe for some their direction is mapped and balance is achievable. But I find that kind of commitment elusive. As I ask myself, “what if” … I am already starting on the next idea, the next project.
Others have taught me anything is possible and I want to explore my options. How long to find your way, I’ve asked, but now I know it’s only just started.
