Licenses

PET LICENSES

Tuxedo Cat with TagsThe City of Aurora requires that all cats and dogs, over 6 months of age, be current on their rabies vaccines and licensed through the Aurora Animal Shelter. Once your pet has been licensed, the shelter will provide you a license tag to be hung on your pet's collar. Per city ordinance, both the city license and rabies tag must always be worn. The city license is also a great tool to reunite you with your pet if they get lost.

Licenses may be purchased online, by mail (please make checks payable to Aurora Animal Shelter) or in person at the Aurora Animal Shelter.

A new license purchased online, typically takes 10 business days from the date of the purchase before tags are sent in the mail.
