Trash & Recycling

From hosting recycling events to connecting you to external resources, the city is committed to: 1. helping you divert waste from landfills, and 2. increasing the amount of useful raw material recovered for making new products.

It takes a whole community to keep Aurora clean. If every person, every business, and every organization got involved, it would make a world of difference in beautifying the whole city.

Trash and Recycling Curbside Collection

Residential trash and recycling pick-up is not a city-provided service. It is the responsibility of the individual residents, homeowners associations, or multifamily building management company to arrange for service with one of the city's permitted trash and recycling haulers. The following companies are licensed with the city of Aurora to provide residential curbside services.

All homes in the city of Aurora are required to have weekly trash service. Trash needs to be in an approved, secure trash container, which some trash companies will provide for a small fee. Trash containers should be stored in the garage, backyard or properly screened in the rear side yard out of view of the adjacent street.

PODS/Dumpsters/Rolloffs on the street

Do you allow storage PODs or dumpsters on the street?
No, storage pods and dumpsters are not allowed on the public street. These items may be considered for placement on private property, including driveways, through the city’s Temporary Use Permit program.
