Aurora Animal Shelter

The Aurora Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Please be advised that the shelter is also closed on Sundays and Tuesdays. As such, the shelter will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, July 6.


: Please be aware that our kennels are not available for walk-throughs. However, we invite adopters to visit our lobby to view our Adoption Wall. Interested adopters will be able to gather more information about any pet listed on the Adoption Wall and will be able to meet the pet in person. Our available animals can also be viewed online. For more information about our adoption process please visit our adoption section.

Lost Pets: If your pet is lost, please view our Lost & Found section online. If your pet is at the shelter, it can be reclaimed during our regular business hours. Please see our Lost & Found section for more information.

Found Pets: Found animals should be brought to the shelter in the jurisdiction that they are found in. Pets found in Aurora or Arapahoe County can be brought to the Aurora Animal Shelter.

Donations: Donations can be left in our donation bin inside our lobby. If you require a donation receipt, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you. We thank you for your donation!

Pet Food Bank: If you are in need of pet food, please contact us to check availability.

Summer Adoption Special

Enjoy summer with a new friend from the Aurora Animal Shelter! In celebration of summer, the shelter is doing an adoption special on all adult dogs and cats 6 months and older. Until July 4, all dog adoption fees have been reduced to $50 and cat adoption fees to $25. Stop by the shelter or view their available animals online.
