Aurora Volunteer Center

Annual Aurora Volunteer Expo

Looking for a meaningful way to get involved in your community? The city of Aurora invites residents to attend the annual Aurora Volunteer Expo, a day focused on connection, service and making a difference close to home. Meet representatives from city programs and local nonprofits and explore a variety of volunteer opportunities that match your interests, skills and availability.

This year’s expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and Tuesday, May 5, at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway (two date options). Registration for attendees is not required.

The following organizations have committed to hosting a booth so far. Please note that this list will be updated weekly as additional participants confirm their attendance.

Lend a hand and volunteer with city of Aurora programs

Volunteering helps make our community great, and it also provides you with personal benefits. You will explore your interests, meet new people, build confidence, improve or acquire new skills, feel good about yourself and have fun.

Volunteering also provides a vital service to the community by assisting the city’s programs and services. Volunteers may serve as museum tour guides, conduct story times, coach youth sports, usher at live theater performances, maintain gardens, assist at special events and more.

City Manager Jason Batchelor shares why volunteering is so important:

How to get started:

  • Determine how much time you have, how frequently you want to volunteer, and what you want to do.

  • Check out available volunteer opportunities using the link below.

  • Once you identify an opportunity that interests you, sign up by creating a system account. You will then be contacted by the city staff member responsible for the program regarding the next steps.

Please note that some volunteer opportunities will require a background check. City volunteer opportunities help the city reach its strategic outcomes

Volunteer opportunities with the Aurora Police Department include Victim Services, Police Explorers and Interpreter positions. Some of these roles may require additional vetting, so a separate registration process applies for this department.

Other volunteer opportunities to consider

The city of Aurora has boards, commissions, committees and/or authorities composed of resident volunteers appointed by the Aurora City Council. To apply, check out board and commission openings
