Winter Theatre Classes             2022

Learn storytelling, improvisation, acting, staging & characterization.  Develop lifelong skills such as empathy, listening, reading, memorization, focus & concentration. Build confidence as you work with other students to create characters, dialogue, monologues, scenes & performance pieces based on the themes & book series below with guidance from experienced theatre professionals & teaching artists.  Perform for family & friends during the last class.

Storybook Alive! Winter Wonderland            

Ages: 4-7

Bring favorite storybooks to life in this fun theatre class! For the winter session we will act out stories about snowy adventures.  Titles include The Snowy Day, I Want Snow, Something’s Fishy & the Snow Dancer.

Harry Potter Adventure:The Philosopher’s Stone

Ages: 7-11

Create & perform a play based on the Harry Potter fiction series, written especially for you. Share a performance with your family on the last day of class. Consistent attendance & outside class work, including memorization of lines & are key to any theatre class.

Stage Combat

Ages: 10-Adult

Entry level students learn safety & basic unarmed staged combat, progressing quickly into skills such as falls, pushes, trips, hits, slaps, & punches.  Experienced students will hone & master their existing skills, while acquiring new advanced skills, moving towards beginning armed combat.

 Sideways Stories from Wayside School

Ages: 9-15

Create some of your favorite characters from the book series in this unique adaptation developed especially for you by the director to perform for your family & friends during the last class. Learn about characterization, staging & rehearsing a memorized play.
