Aurora HOA 101 Series

Want to learn about Homeowners Associations (HOAs) and how they work? After conducting a successful HOA 101 series last year, the city is hosting another series for current HOA members or those interested in joining an HOA in the future. The three-day series aims to develop and educate neighborhood leaders to help build strong neighborhood connections in Aurora.

Classes take place on Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora Room, on the following dates:

  • March 28, HOA Funds: A general overview of how associations can collect money to run the organization. How should HOA funds be collected and used? May it be with regular assessments or with special assessments? This event will cover the pros and cons of both options. Learn what loans could look like for an association and how they are paid off.

  • April 4, Economics of Assessments and Reserves: An overview of Colorado Reserve Study Laws and funding requirements on budgeting as well as how to run budget meetings, the board and adoption process, the meeting quorum, the voting process and more.

  • April 11, HO-6 and Deductible Reapportionment: An overview of the legal requirements for condo property insurance, insurance for multifamily properties and more. Attendees will also learn about the HO-6 insurance policy.

Space is limited; the series can only accommodate up to 50 people per class, so RSVP today by emailing [email protected]

Register your neighborhood/community group with the city

The city launched a new customer portal March 15 at DevPortal.AuroraGov.org. By registering your neighborhood or community group of three people or more through this city portal, you will receive notices regarding nearby proposed developments, have the opportunity to comment on those applications, and qualify to apply for neighborhood grant opportunities or book meeting room space at libraries and fire stations for free. Registration for the portal is free.

If your group is already registered with the city, please ensure your information is updated on the portal starting March 15.
