Aurora, CO. - At 11:13 p.m. this past evening, Aurora Fire Rescue units were dispatched to reports of a house in flames in the 1100 block of N Newark street. Upon arrival, crews found active fire to the back of a single family residence and upgraded the response adding additional units for fire suppression and potential victim rescues.

AFR crews quickly brought the fire under control then began ventilation of the structure and investigating for fire extension into hidden areas of the primary residence and a secondary structure on the property. No injuries to any occupants of the building reported during searches of the structure.

Two adult males, one adult female and their three dogs were displaced by the blaze with an uncertain timeline as to when they'll be able to return to the residence.

As a somber reminder for community members, especially those who live in neighborhoods with buildings in close proximity to one and other, the spread of fire from one building to another is very possible in particular as we get into more red flag days like we've experienced in the last few weeks. Please notify emergency services early and evacuate if there is a chance you may be in the path of the fire.
