The city of Aurora has five recreation centers across the city, with each location having specialized amenities, fitness classes and activities.
When residents think about recreation centers, they think of workout machines, free weights, swimming pools and gymnasiums.
Yes, Aurora has all of those things and more. Here’s a list of amenities that are underused and of value to members.
Introduction classes
Don’t know where to start, our staffers are here to help with introductory classes.
Having personal sessions with a fitness trainer is valuable as it assists in preventing injury, helps members use and learn about gym equipment. And let’s be honest, the extra motivation is fun with one-on-one personal training.
Group fitness classes are fun. You get hands-on coaching from staff, it’s social and you get to spend time with like-minded individuals during classes.
You can purchase a day pass or sign up for a membership to gain access to a recreation center near you.
TRX Circuit Training
Southeast is set-up for TRX (total resistance exercise) classes. This form of suspension training uses specialized equipment and body weight exercises to gain strength, flexibility and a stronger core.
Specialty classes
Keep learning, Aurora has a number of specialty classes to choose from. Don’t be intimidated, not everyone knows what these classes are. Unsure of what Barre+, HathaYoga, Vinyasa Yoga or Yogalates really are? We have you covered, read all about these specialty classes and give one a try.
And for the athletes, there are benefits to signing up for these specialty classes. They will improve flexibility, balance, mobility, strength and more.
Flag football
Touchdown! Join the fun with our Youth Football Program where teamwork, friendships and memories are built to last a lifetime.
Players will participate in practices and play in exciting games where they will learn nuances of flag football. Youth sports help kids learn teamwork, communication, leadership and sportsmanship.

eSports
This one is for the gamers.
Our eSports hub in Aurora provides safe locations for video game users to connect and compete with like-minded friends.
The hub at Expo Community Center has 10 gaming computers, six consoles and an area for 22 gamers and spectators to watch the action.
You asked and we listened. Due to growing demand, the eSports program is expanding to Southeast and Central Recreation Centers.

Elevated indoor tracks
A hidden gem for locals is the elevated indoor tracks at Southeast and Central Recreation Centers.
Colorado weather is unpredictable and having the opportunity to utilize a walking/running track indoors is one you need to add to your next visit.
The views are stunning inside, so grab your friends and go for a walk next time it’s snowing outside. You can thank us later for this recommendation.
