Aurora, Colo. (May 16, 2024) - Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a fire near the 3300 Block of Norfolk Way around 8:05 pm. Crews began arriving within six minutes and found a fire at a two-story residential home.

The firefighters quickly began spraying water onto the fire while other fire crews conducted thorough searches to look for any possible missing individuals or pets. The firefighters also secured the home's utilities to prevent further danger. Additionally, they established water connections from nearby hydrants to the fire trucks to ensure a continuous water supply.

The fire was successfully brought under control and contained, preventing it from spreading to adjacent homes. There are no reports of injuries. Fire investigators have been dispatched to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. No further updates are expected at this time.

As May is National Building Safety Month, functioning sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and other important building safety protections are essential to keeping structures safe for those who occupy and use them. Residents can also do their part by testing every smoke alarm in their homes monthly. Batteries should be replaced at least once a year, and smoke alarms should be replaced every 8-10 years.
