A wildland fire spanning 127 acres was combated by a combined total of 42 fire apparatus deployed by AFR, Bennett Fire and Rescue, Brighton Fire Rescue District, Buckley Fire Emergency Services, Byers Fire Protection District, Deer Trail Rural Fire Protection District, Sable Altura Fire Rescue, South Metro Fire Rescue, and Strasburg Fire Protection District. The concerted efforts of multiple agencies ensured that two farms and the families residing there were rescued from the blaze. While one adult male was treated for smoke inhalation and released on-site, no other injuries were reported, and both homes remain habitable. The fire investigators have attributed the cause of the incident to accidental factors. As we proceed towards the spring and summer months, it is imperative to note that the brush can be extremely dry, ignite quickly, and spread with alarming speed. Please use caution when operating equipment that generates flames or sparks near brush and flammable material. Such activities pose a significant risk of igniting brush fires, which can cause severe damage to property and pose a threat to public safety.
