Backflow Prevention

Backflow preventers or cross-connection devices are required by Aurora city ordinance 138-170. Operational tests by a Certified Backflow Technician must be conducted on any required backflow prevention assembly upon installation and at least annually thereafter. Test results must be submitted online at the backflow site prior to the annual test due date.

The responsible party is defined as being the person billed for water service provided by the Aurora Water Department or the owner of the property served by Aurora Water. In the event that the property owner and the person billed for city water service are different, the owner shall be solely responsible for all obligations and duties. The Water Service office has an appeal process for dispute resolutions in the event of any discrepancies.
