District 1 encompasses most of western Aurora and is sub-divided into 11 area, numbered 1 through 11. These areas are patrolled by District 1 patrol officers. The District also houses two detective units which investigate felony crimes against persons and property.
Two teams of Police Area Representatives (PAR) officers are also housed at District 1. One PAR officer is assigned to each area and works closely with businesses, schools, and residents to problem solve issues related to crime, traffic and quality of life. The district also has a Neighborhood Policing Unit which includes Bike Patrol Team and a Foot Patrol Team that is assigned to East Colfax Avenue
A number of special units are located at the District 1 Station. They include the Special Operations Bureau, K-9 Unit, S.W.A.T. and the Gang Intervention Unit.
