The city of Aurora’s Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS) department is excited to announce that the Richard Gary Black Jr. Nature Exploration Area at Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch is now open!
Designed for people of all ages and abilities, this new space invites visitors to explore nature, play outdoors and stay active in a welcoming and accessible environment. The area features hands-on experiences with locally-sourced natural materials like a sand pit, a building station and obstacle course, along with imaginative play elements such as a human-sized beaver lodge and Dinosaur Hill, to-scale interpretations of a branchiosaurus and stegosaurus, both found in Aurora.
The Richard Gary Black Jr. Nature Exploration Area is open from sunrise to sunset, 365 days a year – rain, shine or snow – and visitors of all ages are invited to explore, play and connect with nature in this one-of-a-kind outdoor space!
