Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for promotional examinations, candidates for the rank of Agent must meet the following service, certification, education and training requirements as of the first day of testing in the promotional series:
SERVICE
- 3 years as Police Officer; AND
- Currently holding the rank of Police Officer, Grade I
EDUCATION
- No college requirement for this position

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for promotional examinations, candidates for the rank of Sergeant must meet the following service, certification, education and training requirements as of the first day of testing in the promotional series:
SERVICE
- 2 years as Agent or Police Officer, Grade I, or any combination thereof
- AND a minimum of 5 years regular, continuous service
- Note: Lateral officers are eligible with at least 3 years regular continuous service with the Aurora Police Department AND at least 5 years as a full-time paid officer in good standing in any jurisdiction.
- AND Currently holding the rank of either Police Officer I, or Agent
EDUCATION
- 60 earned semester or 90 earned quarter hours of college level course work from an accredited college or university
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
