Benefits & Retirement

The following is a listing of some of the benefits that are offered to full-time and part-time career service employees.

Employee Paid Benefits

  • Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage: We offer multiple insurance plans with comprehensive networks and coverage.

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): We offer four flexible spending accounts – limited purpose FSA, healthcare FSA, dependent care FSA and transit FSA. To cover eligible expenses, employees can contribute pre-tax income towards a flexible spending account.

  • Health Savings Account (HSA): Employees enrolled in a high deductible health plan can contribute pre-tax income which can be applied towards eligible medical expenses. Unlike flexible spending accounts, these contributions can roll over each year and accrue interest. If enrolled, the city will contribute towards this account.

Employer Paid Benefits

  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance: Provided to regular employees at no cost in the event of death or serious accidental injury.

  • Short-Term Disability (STD): Provides partial income replacement for individuals unable to work due to a temporary disability, such as an illness or injury. Coverage provides up to 11 weeks of tax-free pay to the employee.

  • Long Term Disability (LTD): Supplements 60% percent of an employee's salary if an employee cannot work for a prolonged time due to serious injury or illness.

  • Wellness Program: We prioritize the mental, physical, financial and emotional well-being of our employees. Employees can take advantage of a subsidized recreation center pass, on-site gym, group fitness classes, and wellness challenges. There are also numerous resources and classes to support with financial and mental well-being.
