Crime in the city of Aurora has been on the decline since 2024 and the downward trend continued through the first six months of 2026.

A 2023 Aurora Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children investigation recently concluded with the arrest of a former Aurora resident on charges of purchasing child sexual abuse material.
