Riders may now book a ride ahead of time on Aurora Rides, the city’s microtransit service for older adults.

Allowing riders to book Aurora Rides in advance will better serve customer needs, providing a way to plan for appointments, errands, social visits, grocery runs, church, community classes and more.

Aurora Rides, which was launched earlier this year, is a microtransit service operating within a defined area in Aurora for adults ages 60 and older to provide free, on-demand rides.

Riders may reserve a ride up to six days in advance or as little as four hours before the desired pickup time.

Prebooking is available through both the Aurora Rides app (available from the app store on Apple or Android devices) and by phone at 720.881.0197.

Aurora Rides service hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

The city of Aurora contracted with Via, in partnership with the Regional Transportation District, for this grant-funded pilot program sponsored by Council Member Angela Lawson. The program provides older adults with transportation to local essential services or a way to connect to the greater metropolitan transit system.

The designated service zone is generally west of Interstate 225 to the western Aurora city boundary but also includes Heather Gardens and St. Andrews Village. The service area map is available on the app or online at City.RideWithVia.com/Aurora, along with more information.
