Aurora Public Library hosted multiple events throughout the summer to promote literacy, community building, passion and culture cultivation and access to unique services. Over the course of the summer, more than 6,550 people participated in Summer of Imagination, Music at the Movies and Farmers Market at Hoffman Heights Library.

Summer of Imagination is Aurora Public Library’s annual summer reading program to encourage the community, from young ages to adults, to read and engage with the library. This year, more than 5,500 people registered to unearth their imagination throughout the summer, which represents a 10% increase from last year’s summer reading program registrations.

Music at the Movies combines concerts and movies into one event at three city of Aurora Parks. A half-hour of entertainment by a local artist kicks off the event followed by a featured film. About 750 people across three events came to their local park to enjoy free entertainment and crafts for all ages.

For the second year, Aurora Public Library partnered with the mission-driven organization Rebel Marketplace to bring a farmers market to Hoffman Heights Library, 1298 Peoria St. So far, the farmers market has reached more than 300 people between visitors and program attendance.

The last farmers market will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.
