Aurora Police Seek Public’s Help with Info About Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
Posted on 08/18/2025

(Aug. 18, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department is asking for the public’s help with information about a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier this month in northwest Aurora.

About 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, Aurora police patrol and traffic officers responded to the intersection of Dayton Street and East 12th Avenue for a report of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash with injuries. An Aurora911 caller told dispatchers one of the involved vehicles sped away from the scene.

When officers arrived, they located the motorcycle rider who sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he died three days later on Tuesday, Aug. 12. The man has since been identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office as 65-year-old Aurora resident Harvey Davis.

The investigation has determined Davis was riding northbound on Dayton Street when he was struck by a 2003 Subaru Forester that was eastbound on East 12th Avenue. The Subaru failed to stop at a stop sign when it collided with the motorcycle causing the crash. The Subaru driver did not stop after the crash and left the scene. The vehicle was located abandoned a short distance from the crash and impounded by officers.

There is no suspect information at this time. Anyone who recognizes the vehicle in the photos and has any information about who might have been driving it at the time of the crash is asked to contact the Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
