Posted on 08/19/2025

(August 19, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help with information about a 2023 double homicide investigation.

Just before 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man in an alley between Fulton and Galena streets, just north of East 22nd Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the man who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

While conducting the preliminary investigation, officers located a second male victim a short distance from the initial crime scene. The man also sustained apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were later identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office as 25-year-old Omar Williams and 27-year-old Kejuan Mays, both residents of Aurora.

Aurora’s Major Crime Homicide Unit is leading the active and ongoing investigation. To date, the investigation has determined that on the night of Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, Williams and Mays were with several other friends in Denver. Interviews with witnesses have determined there were no indications of problems with other people while the group was in Denver.

Evidence collected from the crime scene shows Williams’ Dodge Journey leaving the alley after the murders. The vehicle was recovered on Oct. 13, 2023, near East Alameda Parkway and South Kittredge Street.

Investigators believe Williams and Mays were murdered sometime after 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, and their bodies discarded in the alley between Fulton and Galena streets. Investigators also believe the suspect drove Williams Dodge Journey from the scene and abandoned it more than six miles away near East Alameda Parkway and South Kittredge Street.

There have been no tips in the investigation and all investigative leads generated to date have been exhausted. Major Crime Homicide Unit detectives are asking for the community’s help with any information to help further the investigation.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
