3 Arrested with Large Capacity Magazines

Aurora Gang Unit Arrests 3, Seizes 3 Firearms with Illegal Magazines

(Dec. 3, 2024) – Aurora Police Department Gang Intervention Unit officers last week arrested three men on outstanding warrants and seized three firearms with illegal magazines.

About 8:40 p.m. last Tuesday, Nov. 26, Gang Intervention Unit officers were on patrol in the 800 block of South Havana Street when they observed a verbal argument between two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. After the altercation, the armed man entered a white Jeep with an expired temporary registration and left the scene with two other men and a woman.

Officers followed the Jeep and performed a traffic stop a short distance from the scene of the argument. During the preliminary investigation, officers determined all three men had active felony warrants for their arrest and were taken into custody. The woman, who was driving, also was detained and later released at the scene after being cleared through state and national criminal databases.

Officers searched the Jeep and located three firearms, including .40- and .45-caliber handguns with extended magazines and a 9mm handgun with a 50-round drum magazine. To date, investigators have confirmed one of the firearms was stolen.

All three men were taken to the Aurora Municipal Detention Center and booked on the following charges:

Isaiah Lamond Hughes, 22, of Denver, was booked into jail on two active felony warrants out of Denver for attempted second-degree strangulation and second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft. He also was arrested on charges related to the traffic stop, including possession of a weapon by a previous offender, a felony, and possession of a prohibited large capacity magazine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

Raheim Pure Kyser, 23, of Denver, was booked into jail on two active warrants, including a robbery warrant out of Douglas County and an Arapahoe County warrant for a parole violation.

Adonai Madimba Kalala, 22, of Denver, was booked on two active warrants out of Arapahoe County for obstructing medical personnel and obstructing a telephone service.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
