(Nov. 22, 2024) – An Aurora man hospitalized Thursday night following a domestic violence and shooting incident will face numerous charges upon his release from the hospital.
About 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting stemming from a domestic violence incident in District 3 in south Aurora. The suspect has since been identified as Jason Woolley, 39, of Aurora.
The preliminary investigation has determined Woolley was involved in a violent domestic incident with a 39-year-old woman. Woolley was armed with a stolen handgun.
During the domestic violence incident, a 17-year-old male intervened and multiple shots were fired. Woolley was struck by gunfire multiple times. The female victim also was accidentally struck once by gunfire.
Woolley and the 39-year-old woman were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The woman was treated and released.
Woolley remains in the hospital. Upon his release, he will be taken to the Aurora Municipal Detention Center and booked on numerous domestic violence and weapons-related offenses.
The female victim is not being named in accordance with agency practice not to identify victims of domestic violence. The 17-year-old also is not being identified because he is a minor. The 17-year-old is not facing charges.
