At approximately 05:47 PM, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire in the neighborhood near the intersection of 2200 N Hanover St & 22nd Ave. Crews were on the scene within minutes and found a one-story single-family home with heavy fire and smoke from the rear side of the house.
AFR worked fast and efficiently to place hose lines for fire suppression, establish a water supply, and complete searches for missing people or pets. Fire crews used vertical ventilation to open a hole in the roof to control heat and smoke from inside the home and secured utilities for safety. Through their efforts, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control and prevent further loss.
Thankfully, there were no injuries to report, as the homeowner made it out before AFR arrived. However, the homeowner will stay with gracious neighbors due to the fire damage. Until the origin and cause are determined, the fire is under investigation. At this time, no further updates.
