Aurora Fire crews respond to reports of a fire at a single family residence in the 18000 block of E Layton place.
At approximately 1:35 pm, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire in the 18000 block of E Layton Place in Aurora. Crews responded and arrived on scene within minutes to find a two-story single-family home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the residence.
Firefighters worked quickly to place hose lines for fire suppression through the front of the residence. The crews attempted to make their way through the home in order to bring all fire under control but due to structural and access issues within the residence, were forced to back out. After the back out, the decision was made to attack the fire from the exterior minimizing the risk to fire suppression personnel.
Other fire crews conducted searches for missing people and pets in areas that were stable enough to enter. A complete search of the residence was delayed until entry into the structure was deemed safe enough to re-enter all areas. However, reports from the homeowner and witnesses on scene confirmed no parties are missing or trapped as a result of the incident. Once crews re-entered, searches of the structure were completed, no parties were found.
Due to extensive accessibility and structural issues, it took firefighters an extended period to get the fire under control. Investigators are currently working on cause and origin of the fire. No further updates are expected.
