At approximately 2210, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire near the 2100 block on S Elkhart Street in Aurora. Crews were on the scene within minutes and found a two-story single-family home with fire and smoke on both the first and second floors.
Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to place hose lines for fire suppression. Simultaneously, other fire crews began searching for missing people and pets, establishing a water supply, completing vertical ventilation to open the roof above the fire to release heat and smoke, and securing utilities for safety. Per reports from the scene, the homeowner and all occupants made it out safely before AFR arrived.
Firefighters on-scene have the fire under control and are working on looking for hot spots. The fire is under investigation, and there is nothing further to report.
