At approximately 16:05, a bystander called Aurora911 to report smoke and fire emanating from the back of a residence in Southeast Aurora. Aurora Fire Rescue crews quickly responded, and upon arrival found a two-story single-family home with a significant amount of smoke and fire coming from the porch on the backside of the home.
The initial fire crews acted swiftly and efficiently by deploying two hose lines: one directed towards the porch to combat the fire, and the other directed to the interior of the home to prevent further spread. Other responding units assisted with fire attack, establishing a water supply, completing searches for any missing people or pets, and securing utilities for firefighter’s safety.
The fire on the porch was promptly extinguished. However, the fire did spread into the home via a window requiring the removal of drywall to locate and address hidden smoldering embers. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Unfortunately, due to smoke damage and the utilities being secured, the family will be displaced, but they will find accommodation with relatives in the meantime. Nothing further updates expected.
