At approximately 1648, Aurora Fire Rescue responded for a report of a multi-vehicle accident on Southbound I225, near Parker Road.
Upon arrival fire crews found a multiple vehicle accident, involving four cars total. Due to the number of vehicles involved, and rush hour traffic, multiple fire apparatus and police units were needed to block traffic to create a safe place for first responders to work.
Fire crews worked quickly to medically assess and treat injured patients. One patient was found trapped inside their vehicle and unable to get out. AFR expeditiously and safely used auto extrication to gain access to the patient. Once the patient was safely removed from the vehicle, they were transported with fire paramedics to an area hospital. A total of six patients were treated at the accident, with four patients being transported to area hospitals (3 non-life-threatening injuries, and 1 patient with life-threatening injuries).
Aurora Fire wants to thank Aurora Police and all other agencies with assisting on blocking traffic, and creating a safe place for first responders, gain access to, and medically assess all patient. No further updates expected.
