At approximately 0848, Aurora Fire responded to a report of a structure fire at a single-story commercial building located near Bayaud and Potomac. Flames were visible from I225, as reported by passing vehicles on the highway. Firefighters quickly located the fire in the attic of the building.
A primary search of the building was completed to ensure that no one was trapped inside. Following the primary search, an offensive fire attack was initiated. This involves firefighters entering the building to directly combat the fire and prevent its spread.
Vertical ventilation techniques were employed to release heat, smoke, and toxic gases from the building. This process helps to improve visibility for firefighters inside and aids in overall fire suppression efforts.
Utilities to the building were secured to mitigate any potential hazards and prevent further damage. This typically involves shutting off the gas, electricity, and other utilities connected to the structure.
If no arson is not suspected, it suggests that the fire was not intentionally set and was likely accidental in nature. After the fire is extinguished and deemed under control by crews on-scene, the building owner is notified, and the property is turned back over to the property owner. No further updates expected.
