(May 18, 2023) — The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred more than two months ago in the Pheasant Run neighborhood.
The crash occurred March 1 near the intersection of East Smoky Hill Road and East Radcliff Drive. Patrol officers determined the at-fault driver, a 36-year-old Aurora woman, made a left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle, causing the crash. The woman was cited at the scene.
The victim vehicle was driven by a 38-year-old Aurora man. The man was taken to a local hospital with a leg injury. He was treated and released.
On April 2, the man suffered a medical event and died. The Arapahoe County Coroner determined this week the man’s death was the result of a complication from the leg injury he sustained in the crash.
The man’s identity, as well as additional information about the cause and manner of death, will be released by the coroner’s office.
The crash marks the 22nd traffic-related fatality this year in Aurora.
