Located at the southwest corner of Parker Road and Arapahoe Road, this retail “power center” opened in 2008. It removed a serious flooding and drainage obstacle along Cherry Creek that had discouraged development on the site. The new center serves surrounding neighborhoods and draws sales tax revenue to Aurora from adjacent areas. View a map of the Cornerstar Urban Renewal Area.
The High Point Urban Renewal Area is located within the northern portion of Aurora out by the Denver International Airport. The Plan calls for a conference center hotel to be constructed as a key component of a larger development and is viewed as critical to the success of the total development. As conceptually planned, the conference center hotel is located on a 19.8-acre site with more than 470 rooms and meeting/conference space.
Located at the intersection of E-470 and I-70 the Horizon Uptown Urban Renewal Area is planned as a sustainable, high quality mixed-use community that combines regional employment, shopping and entertainment with public spaces and diverse neighborhoods to create a vibrant urban district within the city. The plan calls for 3,850 residential units, 1.25 million square feet of regional and neighborhood retail development with a lodging component, and about 4 million square feet of office space. A network of streets and bike ways connect the Horizon neighborhoods to a Town Center. View a map of the Horizon Urban Renewal Area.
