Following a mandate in Aurora City Code, the Aurora City Clerk’s Office has adjusted its campaign finance contribution limits effective Aug. 1.

The adjusted amendments read as follows, with the previous amounts shown with a strikethrough mark:

During an election cycle, a person, political committee, or nonmunicipal political organization may not make aggregate contributions to a candidate committee or recall defense committee in excess of $400 $450 to any one candidate in any one ward race or $1,000 $1,150 to any one candidate in any at-large or mayoral race.

During an election cycle, a small donor committee may not make aggregate contributions to a candidate committee or recall defense committee in excess of $4,000 $4,500 to any one candidate in any one ward race or $10,000 $11,500 to any one candidate in any at-large or mayoral race.

Aurora City Code Section 54-105(d) requires the City Clerk to adjust contribution limits by an amount calculated by the Colorado Secretary of State as prescribed in the Colorado Constitution. The first adjustment must be done by the end of the second quarter of 2023, and then every four years thereafter, by the end of the second quarter.
