Accessibility at City Facilities and Equal Access to Programs, Services and Activities
The city of Aurora affirmatively supports compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. As a reflection of this support, the city shall not tolerate incidents of discrimination against individuals with disabilities either in its employment practices or in providing access to municipal services, activities or programs.
Although the ADA does not require the city of Aurora to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden, the city shall make every effort to reasonably accommodate qualified individuals with disabilities through provision of auxiliary aids, and through reasonable modifications to policies and programs, to ensure that individuals with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of the city's programs, services and activities.

All city facilities are wheelchair accessible with entry ramps and accessible parking. If you are a person with a disability requiring other immediate physical-access assistance at the Aurora Municipal Center, please contact Access Aurora at 303.739.7000 during business hours. If you are a person with a disability requiring physical-access assistance at city facilities other than the Aurora Municipal Center, please contact that facility directly for further information.
Communication Aids and Requests for Modifications of Programs, Activities, Services
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity of the city of Aurora, should contact the Office of Accessibility as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event. Note: The city of Aurora will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modification of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.
Language Accessibility and ASL Requests
The city of Aurora has adopted a Language Access Plan to ensure that persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and persons with disabilities have meaningful access to translation and interpretation services upon request. This includes d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (HoH) individuals who wish to request ASL for a city program, service or activity.
