Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak near 15500 East Oberlin Place on Friday at approximately 5:00 p.m.
AFR found a boring operation that cut a buried natural gas line. Due to safety concerns, AFR crews evacuated ten nearby homes. The AFR Hazardous Materials Team excavated soil around the boring site, exposing the damaged 1.5-inch gas line, and clamped it shut. Eight of the evacuated families were then allowed back into their homes; the other two are waiting for the gas line to be repaired. The scene was turned over to Xcel Energy. No injuries were reported.
