At approximately 1113, Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to reports of a commercial building fire in the area near Gartrell and E470. The initial call came from workers inside the restaurant who notified 911 that there was a fire. The fire response was upgraded to a two-alarm assignment, due to the blaze occurring at a commercial building.
When initial crews arrived, they found heavy fire and black smoke pushing out of the rear exit door and extending into the roofline above.
Fire crews on-scene worked quickly to put hose lines in-service for fire suppression, establish a water supply, begin searches for any missing or trapped parties, and evacuate the restaurant and neighboring businesses. Thankfully, firefighters were quickly able to bring the fire under control preventing any further damage.
One patient suffered minor injuries and was medically treated on-scene. However, the patient refused transport, and used their personal vehicle to drive to an area hospital. Currently, the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. No further updates expected.
