The Community Fire Academy is a nine-week program designed to give community members an overview of how Aurora Fire Rescue operates, including hands-on participation. The purpose of the Community Fire Academy is not to train an individual to be a firefighter but to produce informed residents.
Participants meet once a week for hands-on training. Topics include fire department operations, specialty teams, station tours, engine and truck tours, auto extrication and EMS. The course is designed not only to inform about what Aurora Fire Rescue does and why, but also to give practical safety knowledge.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in Aurora and agree to a background check.
There is no Community Fire Academy scheduled at this time.
