Summary
The Mosaic of Cultures exhibit series proudly celebrates the vibrant tapestry of cultural diversity in Aurora by showcasing the unique histories, traditions and contributions of the individual cultural groups that call our city home. Through captivating testimonials, the presentation of significant cultural artifacts and immersive exhibit components, we aim to illuminate how these communities enrich our city's identity, promote understanding among its citizens and shape our shared historical narrative.
Projects can be organized by anyone, but an adult over the age of 18 with experience relevant to the exhibit is required.

Application Process
Prepare to Respond to the Following
1.
Cultural Significance: Does the exhibit proposal articulate cultural significance, cultural identity, and the impact on the local community.
2.
Community Engagement: Does this exhibition proposal demonstrate commitment and involvement of additional groups/organizations/entities for the success of the exhibit to promote participation and connection within Aurora?
3.
Authenticity and Respect: Does this proposal show respect and understanding of the cultural practices being represented? Does the submission highlight authentic voices and perspectives?
4.
Educational Value: Does the proposal describe how Cultural knowledge will be shared and appreciated? Does the proposal contain an outline of potential education opportunities or programs that may emphasize the content of the exhibit?
5.
Resources: Does the proposal contain an outline of potential objects, photos, 2D/3D art and other resources for display and represent the culture?

Review Process
•
The selection review committee uses a rubric for scoring applications. See the Scoring Sheet and Rubric on the Museum website for details on how applications are reviewed.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel comprised of city of Aurora employees and community representatives.
•
Please note, applicants who are selected for this submission cycle will need to skip a submission cycle before they are eligible again.

Non-Discrimination

Determining Selected Proposals
Applications will be reviewed and scored by a panel consisting of city of Aurora employees and/ or community representatives.
Agreement
The Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites Mosaic of Cultures Exhibit Series requires selected entities to enter into an Agreement with the City of Aurora which requires selectees to agree to various terms and conditions (for example non-discrimination, indemnification, etc.).
Acknowledgement of City of Aurora Funding
All selectees are required to acknowledge the city of Aurora in printed materials, publications, advertisements and signage related to the funded programs and/or services. Applicants are prohibited from acknowledging the Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites as a sponsor, contributor or any other type of supporter for any program or service other than those specifically set forth in the Application and Agreement. Acknowledgments may take the form of a statement such as “this exhibit was developed in partnership with the Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites as part of the Mosaic of Cultures Exhibit Series” The logo for the AHMHS may be used in addition to a statement or instead of a statement when space is limited.
