Attic fire in home near Florida & Iowa

At approximately 1655, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire in neighborhood near Florida Ave & Iowa Drive. Upon arrival fire crews found smoke coming out of the east side and made access inside the home. The fire was found inside the attic space. Fire suppression crews were able to open the ceiling and get water on the fire. Rescue crews checked the home for people and pets and found no one missing or injured. Outside firefighters were able to check the outside of the home for any further fire extension, and shutdown utilities. Currently, crews are monitoring the inside air to make sure it’s safe. The fire is under investigation, no further updates expected.
