Aurora Fire Rescue has accepted the offer to participate in the annual Colorado Fallen Firefighter Foundation’s Memorial Ceremony on April 29, 2023. Aurora Fire Rescue will be sending several apparatus to the ceremony in order to recognize one of our own members, Lt. Bud Hills (Retired), whose name will be added to the memorial as AFR’s first recognized LODD. Lt. Hills retired from AFR nearly 2 decades ago after service with the department for 31 years and leaving a legacy to be emulated by all including his son, current Aurora Fire Deputy Chief Caine Hills.
The ceremony will take place at the Lakewood Cultural Center, located at 470 S. Allison Pkwy, Lakewood, CO 80226. The procession of apparatus will begin at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 and is expected to last approximately 45 minutes.
The Memorial is located just off West Virginia Avenue in Belmar Park. (Between the Lakewood Police Department and the Jefferson County Public Library – Belmar). The event is open to anyone who would like to come and show their support for Colorado’s Firefighters. We hope you will join us.
