About Aurora Civic Engagement Academy
Want to learn how your local government works? Apply for the Aurora Civic Engagement Academy and get a better understanding of local government, connect with city leaders and make a difference in our community.
This free eight-week program is designed to educate and empower residents, including:
- Building confidence navigating local government
- Connecting directly with decision-makers
- Understanding how policies impact neighborhoods
- Discovering meaningful ways to get involved
- Developing skills to advocate for community priorities
2026 Civic Engagement Academy
A meet and green and orientation will take place in the week of Sept. 14, with the academy kickoff the week of Sept. 21. The academy sessions will happen weekly through the week of Nov. 13. Additional details will be posted on this page as they are solidified.
The class is limited to 30 participants who must be residents of Aurora or be employed at a business with a physical presence in Aurora.
The application for the 2026 Aurora Civic Engagement Academy will be available here starting Monday, July 20. The application will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31.
