If Aurora youth could be offered any program or activity, what would it be?
Aurora’s Housing and Community Services Department announced today the Dream Big for Aurora Youth campaign, which encourages youth, caregivers such as parents or guardians and youth-serving professionals to provide input via EngageAurora.org/Youth on how the city should spend a one-time $3.8 million award on youth-related activities or programming. The campaign webpage includes an idea board and short survey, which is available in several languages through the Google translate tool. The deadline to provide input is March 31.
“We are looking to generate ideas around meaningful youth activities in Aurora,” said Jessica Prosser, director of the city’s Housing and Community Services Department. “We really want to make sure the youth voice is heard through this process. Get creative and dream big.”
Funding for this effort comes from the sale of the Denver Broncos in 2022, which resulted in a $41 million refund to cities and counties in the Denver metro area that helped fund the stadium.
The city’s Community Engagement Division will be conducting outreach and partnering with school districts and youth-serving organizations to help gather input along with other campaign outreach efforts, including targeted social media for youth. Printed surveys in various languages will also be available at city libraries starting March 1.
