Aurora has installed many safe bicycle facilities that offer travel choices to get to destinations throughout the city.

City Council approved a policy to design new streets and redesign existing streets to work for all travel modes where it makes sense.

The city has leveraged grant funding to purchase plug-in hybrid models that save money and have cleaner air emissions.

The city participates in the annual Bike to Work Day and offers bicycle lockers, racks and a repair station on the campus for employees. Racks and the repair station are also open to campus visitors. The city was designated as a Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists.

The city has leveraged grant funds to install more than 40 electric vehicle charging stations around the city.

Transit Oriented Development (TOD) zoning at light and commuter rail stations provides standards that facilitate development of dense urban centers that include housing, services and retail to reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips.
