COURT APPEARANCES

The Aurora Municipal Court handles a wide variety of offense violations, but not all tickets that are written in the city of Aurora are written into Aurora Municipal Court. The Aurora Municipal Court has jurisdiction over city ordinances.  Many of the traffic violations are payable prior to a court appearance; however, criminal violations require a court appearance before a judge.

What Are The Normal Business Hours For The Court?

Court RoomAurora Municipal Court is open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding city holidays.  If the day for your court appearances falls on a Saturday, Sunday, Holiday, or if the court is closed, you should appear on the next business day.  Courtrooms are open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

What Are The Hours For Traffic Court?

Traffic Court hours are 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Traffic Court is in the First Appearance Center (FAC) located on the located on the second floor of the courthouse.  Check-in times are based on the first letter of your last name:  
  • A – G at 8:00 AM

  • H – O at 9:00 AM

  • P – Z at 8:00 AM

What Happens When I Go To Court?

To enter the Aurora Municipal Courthouse, you will have to pass through a metal detector and your belongings will pass through an x-ray machine.  Please arrive on time for your court appearance and be sure to allow enough time to pass through security.  To avoid problems gaining access to the building, it is highly recommended that you do not bring in food, beverages, or anything that could be construed as a weapon, as well as avoiding clothing articles that have excessive metal. 
Information monitors are located in the rotunda that will assist you with finding the courtroom in which you are scheduled to appear.  Important:  When you arrive in the courtroom, you MUST check-in with the Courtroom Assistant.

What Courtroom Handles In-Custody Cases?

If you are coming to court to handle a matter for someone who is in-custody, please proceed to Division 8 located on the second floor of the courthouse and wait for the Courtroom Assistant.

May I Appear Virtually For My Court Appearance?

The City of Aurora Municipal Court offers in-person appearances and virtual (video conferencing) appearances for certain cases. To determine if your case is eligible for video conferencing, please contact the Aurora Municipal Court by email [email protected], by TEXT at 720.704.0100 or by telephone at 303.739.6444 or 303.739.6421, option 1.

What Can I Do If I Have A Conflict For My Arraignment Appearance?

If you are unable to appear on the specified court date listed on your summons, you may contact the court by telephone at 303.739.6444, by TEXT at 720.704.0100, send an email to [email protected], or you may speak with a Court Clerk at the Customer Service windows in the rotunda at the Aurora Municipal Court located at 14999 East Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012 to request for a one-time ten (10) day courtesy extension. No one else may call or appear on your behalf.
