UPDATE: The Major Crimes/Homicide Unit has determined that the victims gunshot wound was self-inflicted and is investigating this case as a suicide.

Information previously released on October 6, 2016:
On Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:38 a.m. officers responded to Side Creek Park located at 19001 East Colorado Drive on a report of a mannequin with a weapon in the park. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male with a gunshot wound. At this time there is no further information available as this is an active and ongoing investigation.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made, and next of kin has been notified.
The Majors Crime/Homicide unit and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Aurora Police is asking anyone with information about this case to contact Agent Jamie Krieger with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit at 303-739-6113.
