(August 26) On August 26, 2021 at 06:00 a.m., Aurora Police officers responded to the area of East Colfax Avenue and North Emporia Street, on a report of an assault.

Upon officer’s arrival to the area they discovered a female laying on the ground with serious injuries. The female was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, she later died as a result of her injuries. There is no threat to the public related to this incident.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after she has been positively identified, and next of kin have been notified.

The Aurora Police Department Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating this incident as a suspicious death. At this early time in the investigation, the facts and circumstances that led up to the death, to include suspect information, are still being determined.

(August 2) On July 29, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to the 2600 block of South Xanadu Way in relation to a missing persons investigation.

 Upon officer’s arrival to the area they discovered a person deceased inside of a nearby vehicle. At this time, we are unable to determine the race or gender of the deceased individual. The circumstances leading to the death are unknown and the Major Crimes and Homicide Unit are investigating this as a suspicious death.

 This case continues to be investigated by our Major Crimes Homicide Unit. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification has been made, and his next-of-kin has been notified.

On December 26th, 2020 at around 11:18 p.m. Aurora Police responded to a report of a possible shooting in the 2000 Block of North Fulton Street

Upon arrival officers located a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound in the alleyway between Fulton and Florence Street. At this time Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit are investigating this case as a suspicious death.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office once he has been positively identified and the next of kin have been notified of his passing.

On August 30, 2020 at around 8:30a.m. Aurora Police responded to a report of shooting at the Landon Park Apartments located at 6 South Sable Boulevard.

Upon arrival Officers located an adult male who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound inside of an apartment. The preliminary investigation discovered that a neighbor of the deceased heard a gunshot at around 2:00a.m. This morning when the neighbor went and checked on the resident she found him slumped over and called police.

At this time this shooting is being investigated as a suspicious death by the Major Crimes Homicide Unit. Investigators are looking for anyone who might have witnessed, heard something or who has additional information about this case. Witnesses are asked to call Agent Heath Graw at 303.739.6213.  

The name of the deceased man will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

(August 15, 2020) On Saturday morning at approximately 4:22 a.m. Aurora Police Officers responded to 24511 East Applewood Circle on a reported shooting.


Upon officer's arrival at the residence, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds.

The identity of the male will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after he has been positively identified, and next of kin have been notified.

Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating this as a suspicious death. All involved parties are known, and there is not a danger to the community.

(June 23, 2020) This morning at approximately 12:12 a.m. Aurora Police Department officers responded to the Sable Cove Condominiums, located at 912 South Dearborn Way, on a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon officer’s arrival they located a 33-year-old male in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, who tragically was pronounced deceased a short time later. His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified, and his next of kin have been notified.

Currently, detectives with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit (MCHU) are investigating this as a suspicious death. At this time there are no additional details that can be provided.

The MCHU is asking anyone who may have witnessed his death, or has any information related to this investigation to contact

UPDATE: Through diligent investigative work the Aurora Police Department Major Crimes/Homicide Unit arrested Keith Zotto,    (DOB 10/24/1974) and charged him with at least Colorado Revised Stature 18-3-102(1)(a) Murder in the First Degree.

Zotto will be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Further media inquiries should be directed to there.

Information previously release July 2, 2019


On July 2nd, 2019 at 12:06 p.m. Aurora Police officers were dispatched to the 19000 block of East Milan Circle on a missing person report.

After the responding officers initial investigation, they discovered a deceased adult female inside the residence.  This active and ongoing investigation is still in the very early stages, so no further information is currently available. There is no threat to the public related to this incident.

The identity of the female will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office pending positive identification, and notification of her next-of-kin.

The Aurora Police Major Crimes/Homicide Unit is investigating this suspicious death. We ask anyone who may have information to please call Aurora Police Agent Sutherland at 303-739-6406. On July 2, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to the Knights Inn Motel located at 14200 East 6th Avenue to check the welfare of an adult female. Upon their arrival, officers located the female deceased inside one of the motel rooms.

Since then, the Major Crimes Homicide Unit (MCHU) obtained an arrest warrant for Arturo Garcia (DOB: 07/19/1996) for the 1st Degree Murder of Alexandrea Raber (DOB: 11/21/1998) who was 18 years old at the time of her death.

On Tuesday February 26th, 2019, Garcia was apprehended in Mexico. Garcia was deported to the United States, and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail. Extradition proceedings are underway for Garcia to be transported back to Colorado where he will be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

We would like to thank our local, state and federal partners who were instrumental in the successful apprehension of Garcia.

The Major Crimes/Homicide Unit has been actively investigating a suspicious death that occurred on July 2, 2017 at the Knights Inn Motel located at 14200 East 6th Avenue. At this time investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Arturo Garcia (DOB: 07/19/96) who has an active arrest warrant for 1st Degree Murder.

This is still an active and on-going investigation and there are no further details to provide at this time. Detectives and Investigators from the Major Crimes/Homicide responded to the scene and resumed the investigation.  The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once a positive identification has been made and the next of kin has been notified.

On Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:38 a.m. officers responded to Side Creek Park located at 19001 East Colorado Drive on a report of a mannequin with a weapon in the park. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male with a gunshot wound. At this time there is no further information available as this is an active and ongoing investigation.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office once a positive identification has been made, and next of kin has been notified.

On Saturday September 10th 2016 at approximately 11:30 a.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Powhatan Road on report of an apparent deceased body.

Upon officers arrival they discovered a deceased female. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office once a positive identification has been made, and next of kin has been notified.

The Majors Crime/Homicide unit responded and has taken over the investigation. Aurora Police is asking anyone with information about this case to contact Agent Jamie Krieger with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit at 303-739-6113.
